"Play Information technology Again" is a song written by Dallas Davidson and Ashley Gorley and recorded by American country music creative person Luke Bryan. Information technology was released in March 2014 as the 4th single from Bryan's 2013 album Crash My Party.[1] On April 17, 2014, the song became Bryan's 8th non-consecutive chart-topper on the Hot Country Songs chart, the most by any deed in the time since his kickoff number one "Rain Is a Proficient Thing" striking the acme spot on July 24, 2010.[2]

Content [edit]

The protagonist approaches a girl at a tailgate party. Suddenly, the daughter'south favorite song comes on, causing her to enquire the protagonist to dance with her, and they both exclaim "play information technology again" when the vocal is finished. He drives her home that night, when the song comes on the radio, triggering a similar reaction. The side by side calendar week, they proceed a date together where the protagonist plays the song on his guitar.

Critical reception [edit]

Matt Bjorke of Roughstock gave the song 4 stars out of 5, praising both the lyrics for "[getting] at the emotion that hits young people who are total of life" and Bryan'southward mannerly delivery, which "sells the song". Bjorke also commended the label's timing in releasing a experience-proficient song and then shut to Summertime.[iii] Billy Dukes of Taste of Country also gave the song a positive review, maxim that "This superstar is enjoying a fourth dimension when everything that he sings sounds unique and feels securely satisfying. He's found a few familiar themes that don't grow old quickly, and his performances have gotten amend with each release. 'Play It Once again' is another hitting for Bryan. When information technology finishes its chart run, information technology will probable be among the top five of his career."[iv] Vickye Fisher of For The Land Record was less favorable, saying that "The choruses, full production guitars/drums and belted vocals, practise nothing to make 'Play It Again' sound whatever different from any other songs on the album, or any other songs on the radio, for that matter. Information technology's not distinctive, information technology'southward just irksome."[5]

Commercial reception [edit]

"Play Information technology Again" debuted at number 46 on the Country Airplay nautical chart for the week ending of March 15, 2014.[6] Two weeks after, "Play It Again" entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 81 for the week ending of March 29, 2014.[7] "Play It Again" reached number one on the Hot State Songs nautical chart dated of April 17, 2014.[ii] "Play It Again" reached number i on the Country Airplay nautical chart for the week ending of May 31, 2014; the same calendar week, Florida Georgia Line's "This Is How Nosotros Whorl", on which Bryan is a featured artist, held the number 2 position on the Country Airplay chart, making Bryan the first creative person in the chart's 24-twelvemonth history to hold the superlative two positions simultaneously.[eight]

"Play Information technology Again" is currently certified six times platinum by the RIAA, reaching the mark on August three, 2020[ix]. As of April 2017, the song has sold two,493,000 copies in the U.s..[10]
